Greetings all!
We had a great time at our signing in Billings on Monday. Saw many old friends and met some new ones. We send special thanks to Lorrie at the Billings Barnes & Noble. She laid the ground work for a superb presentation and even brought Godiva chocolates. We really appreciate you, Lorrie. Great job! The screen was set up ready for Mike to fiddle with the computer for ten minutes trying to set up the Power Point.
Some of us really mourn the death of the slide projector; it was so easy.
Victory! On the flight from Billings to New York we passed through the Minneapolis airport and found copies of COMING OF THE STORM right out front on the Simply Books podium, front of store! Thank you Simply Books! We signed all the copies we could, and will get the other two accounts on the way back on Saturday. If you are passing through, don’t hesitate to pick up an autographed copy for friends or family. Books make great gifts and, well, they have a super shelf life.
New York is busy, cold, and bustling. Every time we arrive a certain sense of excitement builds. It’s something endemic to Manhattan. Perhaps some residual “cool” effect left at the glacial maximum 18,000 years ago? Whatever the cause, we’ll ride the giddy wave for two or three days, and finally stumble onto an airplane, exhausted, and ready for the tranquility of Wyoming.
We’re off to meetings with Simon & Schuster today, discussing what went right and wrong with the COMING OF THE STORM book tour. Should be a fun and interesting day, especially as we get figures on how the book is doing. Tonight we have a meeting with our publisher, and finally supper. Tomorrow is filled with meetings at Tor/Forge discussing the sell-in and release of PEOPLE OF THE LONGHOUSE in July. Friday is dedicated to Tor/Forge editorial, and meetings at Sanford Greenburger, our literary agency.
Oh, and we’ll try and fit in some great food, too. Especially the Indian restaurants. You can do that in New York. At least if you can fit it in while craning the neck to stare up at the high buildings.
Best,
Mike and Kathy.
