Book Giveaway on Goodreads!

Hi All, Our great publisher is doing a book giveaway on Goodreads for PEOPLE OF THE WOLF. If you’re interested in getting a free copy, please sign up! It’s a snowy cold day here in northern Wyoming. But there’s no wind, which makes it pretty. We watched big snowflakes spiral down throughout breakfast. Wherever you are, stay warm! BACK FROM BEAUTIFUL TEXAS!

We spent the past week in Texas, and it was flat-out gorgeous. The temperature was in the 70s and green grass was coming up everywhere. What a delightful change after Wyoming’s recent sub-zero temps. When we drove in last night, our seven mile-long ranch road alternated between being a rushing river of snowmelt, and a mud wallow. It’s so pretty today, though. Almost 55 degrees with sunshine and no wind. The buffalo ran to meet us when they saw us today, surrounding the truck and snuffling at us. They always wonder where we’ve been and the scents attached to the truck apparently give them clues. They seemed fascinated by the exotic smells of Texas. Probaby the green grass scent made them hungry… Hope everyone is well and warm. Mike and Kathy

Pinyon jay poetry

We feed the birds every morning, especially when it’s bitterly cold, and this morning was such a joy! Female pinyon jays have a distinctive trill they use to call their mates, and this morning the air was filled with the most melodic and beautiful trilling! They’re very musical birds…

REALLY COLD MORNING!

Hi All, It was -16 degrees this morning when the power went out. Took four hours for the power company to turn it back on. We were fine. We built fires in the wood stoves, cooked breakfast in a cast iron skillet on the big stove in the living room, made a pot of New Mexico pinon coffee, and read. But we worried about all the people–especially the elderly–who only have electric heaters. Hope you are warm! Mike and Kathy
